PURPOSE:To identify the failure of contacts and specify failed contacts without providing a circuit exclusively for identifying failure and deal with specified fail contacts. CONSTITUTION:A range control portion 20, which outputs control signals for selecting the shift range of an automatic transmission AT according to signals sent from each point as a selecting switch SW is controlled, includes a failure identification means for identifying the failure of contacts in accordance with whether or not signals are sent from each point as the selecting switch SW is controlled and with the duration of each signal, and a fail contact specification means which, when failure is identified, specifies fail contacts according to changes in the signals from the contacts due to the subsequent control of the selecting switch SW. |
