<p>PURPOSE:To obtain an engine exhaust emission control system which can improve the adsorption performance of an adsorbent for adsorbing the uncombusted hydrocarbon which is exhausted by a large quantity on the engine start and permits the long period maintenance of the initial performance. CONSTITUTION:In an adsorbent chamber 3, a moisture adsorbing material is arranged at the edge parts upstream and downstream from an adsorbent for adsorbing the uncombusted hydrocarbon, and at the high temperature which is sufficient for the combustion of the carbon adhering on the adsorbent due to coaking, air is supplied into the adsorbent chamber 3 from an air feeding device 5. Accordingly, the purification rate for the hydrocarbon is improved, and the repetitive use for a long period is permitted.</p> |
