PURPOSE:To achieve discrimination processing at high speed with a desired resolution by adding outputs of vertical direction and horizontal direction and then reading them out. CONSTITUTION:A discrimination part of a pattern recognition device is constituted of a two-dimensional image sensor l. a drive circuit 2, an amplification and sample/hold circuit 3, an A/D converter 4, a ROM 5, a RAM 6, an interface 7. a device control part interface 8, and a CPU 9. The frequency of reset pulse phiR is reduced to 1/n of a horizontal shift register transfer pulse frequency and then added outputs of picture elements of vertical direction x horizontal direction regions are obtained from the output of the two-dimensional image sensor 1. thus enabling data to be compressed when reading out data from the two-dimensional image sensor 1, eliminating a need for compressing data which is more than necessary at pre-processing, and hence improving processing speed. |
