PURPOSE:To provide an image forming method by which a full color image having high image quality in which the delicate shade of high purity and high color developing part is stably reproduced on a photosensitive material possessing respective coloring matter forming layers of three primary colors by at least one layer on a supporting body by performing a scanning-exposure with a light source modulated based on image data. CONSTITUTION:As to the exposing dynamic range of the photosensitive material in which the coloring density D of the dyestuff forming layer of the maximum sensitivity of the photosensitive material obtained by irradiating the layer with a light beam from at least one light source modulated based on the image data is changed equal to or above the limit of visual recognition versus the change of the minimum unit of the modulation control of the exposure E of the light source, the dyestuff forming layer of the color concerned is color- developed by irradiating the layer with the light beam from another light source showing the maximum sensitivity with respect to the another dyestuff forming layer, and the change of the coloring density is constituted to be equal to or below the limit of the visual recognition.
