PURPOSE:To provide the method for removing scalping scrap and the cutting scrap of bare optical fibers suitable for an automatic connecting device for the coated optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:The coated optical fiber supplied from the left side is scalped by an upper cutting blade 7a and lower cutting blade 10a of a working region 1 for scalping. The coated optical fiber supplied from the right side is scalped by an upper cutting blade 7b and a lower cutting blade 10b. The ends of the bare optical fibers exposed by this scalping are subjected to end face cutting by utilizing scoring blades 4a, 4b in the working regions 2a, 2b for end face cutting. A revolving shaft 13 is rotated upon ending of the end face cutting to cross pawls 14a, 14b, 14c in the working region 1 for the scalping and the working regions 2a, 2b for the end face cutting, by which the scalping scrap remaining in the working region 1 for the scalping and the cutting scrap of the end face cutting remaining in the working regions 2a, 2b for the end face cutting are shaken off. |
