PURPOSE: To suppress the reflection of acoustic receive signals in an ultrasonic converter. CONSTITUTION: An ultrasonic converter 2 is connected to a compensating circuit 10, and the compensating circuit 10 introduces a compensating transmission signal I with polarity similar to and opposite to an acoustic receive signal pe2 to the ultrasonic converter 2 while receiving. Furthermore, an adding element 14 is provided in a receive channel 4 also connected to the ultrasonic converter 2, a compensated receive signal is introduced to the first input side 16 of the adding element. The second input side 18 of the adding element is connected to the compensating circuit 10. In this case, a signal removing the component based on the compensating receive signal I from among a compensated receive signal E 2 is introduced to the second input side 18, so the output side 22 of the adding element 14 sends out a receive signal E from which the compensating signal I has been removed.
