Device for controlling an axle driven by an additional hydrostatic transmission for vehicles with two methods of drive in which a combustion engine (1) on the one hand mechanically drives an axle (2) via a gear box (3) with a selector (4) of the transmission ratio and, on the other hand, hydraulically driving another axle (5) via hydraulic motors (6) fed by a variable-cylinder-capacity pump (7), characterised by the fact that the selector (4) is slaved to a circuit (80) generating the control pressure for a hydraulic distributor (10) for controlling coupling of the hydrostatic transmission and to a means (87) for controlling reduction and reestablishing the hydraulic pressure in the circuit for controlling the said transmission. <IMAGE>
