The pipe or water channel cut-off component comprises an inflatable bellows (23). In the empty state the bellows do not restrict the cross-section of the pipe or duct (17), but in the inflated condition they close the cross-section. The bellows are connected to the floor of the pipe, and to the side walls along a line running inclined to the vertical. In the empty state, it lies flat on the floor and walls of the pipe, and is located in a recess (24) in the floor and/or walls. Through the floor a pipe conduit (31) is fitted for feeding air into and aspirating air out of the bellows, and the bellows comprises two watertight rubber sheets or fabrics (25) connected along their edges (27) in an airtight fashion.
