<p>PURPOSE:To provide the subject new triazole exhibiting a herbicidal activity and a plant growth regulating effect and useful as an active component of a herbicide and as an active component of a crop plant growth regulator. CONSTITUTION:A triazole of formula I [A is H, triphenylmethyl, etc.; R1 is H, F, etc.; R2 is H, formula II (R9 is a 1 to 6C alkyl, a 2 to 6C alkenyl, etc.), etc.; R3 and R4 are H, a 1 to 4C alkyl, etc.; R5 and R6 are H, benzyl, etc.; X is H, a 1 to 4C haloalkyl, etc.; Y is H, a 1 to 4C alkyl, etc.; Z is H or forms a R7- and R8-substituted 2 to 4C alkylene bridge together with X; R7 and R8 are each H, a 1 to 4C alkoxy, etc.], e.g. 3-hydroxy-3-methyl-3-(t-methyl-1,2,4- triazol-5-yl)propylphosphonic acid. The above-mentioned compound can be obtained by reacting a compound of formula III (A' is A except H) with an aldehyde or a ketone of formula IV (R' is a 1 to 4C alkyl or benzyl) and subsequently cleaving the protecting group A' and/or R' as necessary.</p> |
