The invention relates to a polymethacrylate film having a matted surface, comprising from 99.9 to 30 % by weight of a thermoplastic polymer matrix A, built up from a hard phase a1) and a tough phase a2), and from 0.1 to 70 % by weight of latex particles of a thermoelastic polymer B which are included therein and cause the matt effect. The hard phase a1) may preferably contain low-molecular-weight and/or copolymerised UV absorbers. The difference between the refractive indices of the thermoplastic polymer A and of the thermoelastic polymer B must not exceed 0.02. In spite of its matted surface, the film has high transparency, is weathering-resistant, has low stress whitening on folding and is insensitive to cold and heat as far as its toughness is concerned. At the same time, it additionally acts as a UV filter and is thus an effective protection for substrates which are sensitive to UV radiation. The film may, if necessary, be bonded to the substrate by lamination, pressing, thermoforming or adhesive bonding. |
