PURPOSE:To easily obtain retinoids having high optical purity in high efficiency by reacting a 1,3-dihalo-2-propanol with a microorganism of the genus Aureobacterium. CONSTITUTION:The objective (R)-(-)-3-halo-1,2-propanediol is produced by aerobically culturing a microbial strain belonging to the genus Aureobacterium, e.g. DH-095 strain (FERM P-12360) at 20-45 deg.C and pH4-10 for 10-96hr and reacting the obtained culture liquid or microbial cell suspension with a 1,3- dihalo-2-propanol at 5-50 deg.C and pH4-10. |
