The invention relates to the function of a bottom hatch 2 in a shut-off feed device 1 in the upper part of a fuel silo and the use of a timer relay 13 in level monitoring. When filling, a filling hatch 5 and a bottom hatch 2 are open alternately, and in the final phase of filling the bottom hatch remains partially open according to figure 2. Controlled by the timer relay 13, a hydraulic cylinder 7 opens the bottom hatch 2 fully, and a counter-weight 9 endeavours to close it. The action is repeated at specific time intervals, until the hatch is closed and the succeeding filling period can begin. <IMAGE>
