Method of producing a metallic layer on a light-permeable material, by means of a photoreduction reaction of a solution containing a metal 1,3-diketonate with the general formula shown in the diagram, where M denotes copper, nickel or cobalt in the second oxidation state, and R<1> and R<2> are identical or different and each denote an alkyl, halogenalkyl or phenyl group, characterized in that the reaction takes place in the presence of aromatic ketone as a sensitizer, the reaction solution being exposed to ultraviolet radiation of wavelength λ = 200 to 400 nm, where a hydrogen-donor solvent is used as the solvent for the reaction solution.<IMAGE>
