Sight (viewing) system for an automatic machine for the production of cork-bark stoppers

The present invention relates to a sight and control system 1 for an automatic machine for the production of cork-bark stoppers 8. It essentially comprises image processing at grey levels of binary images and laser- inspection techniques for examining the line of cork bark, detecting and categorizing defects so as automatically to determine the optimum areas where stoppers may be punched out (stamped). To this end, it comprises the actual machine 3 for punching out the stoppers associated with a synchronized conveying mechanism 5 for the line of cork bark 4, two cameras 2 for viewing both faces of the line of cork bark, a personal computer (PC) with image processing card, a video monitor for presentation of the images generated by the processing card and mechanisms 7 for longitudinal inspection of the line of cork bark with laser. This system guarantees a substantial increase in productivity, savings in raw material, savings in the process for producing the stopper, flexibility of response and operator safety.
