Method for constructing a building, such as an underground shelter, preferably for providing a protection against bombing. According to this method, elements (3) are assembled having, on their opposing edges, a central longitudinal groove (42). A gap (45, 46) is left between adjacent elements, this gap is closed off with sections (47, 48), preferably inserted into slits (43, 44) in the elements, before the space (49) defined by the grooves (42) opposite each other are filled with a curable binder. In order to construct a shelter (bomb shelter), base elements (2) in the form of a sector of horizontal disc, with lateral wall (3) in the form of a fraction of a vertical cylinder and with a vault (roof) (4) having, in projection onto the horizontal, the shape of a sector of disc, are assembled on site. A central component (5) reinforces the top of the roof (vault, arch) and may contain an evacuation passage. All these elements are prefabricated, and they can be erected and assembled very rapidly, even by somewhat unskilled labour. <IMAGE>
