PURPOSE:To provide the scanning driver circuit which performs partial rewriting operation even of the liquid crystal display device such as a phase shift type LCD having memory characteristics and a ferroelectric LCD. CONSTITUTION:This circuit has plural blocks provided with a shift register 11 and a driver 13 which drives operation lines Si1-Sin based on the value of the shift register 11, and each of the blocks has a scanning signal generating means 1 which inputs the selection control signal SELi# from its block Bi and the enable signal EIi from the block Bi+1 of the following stage and generates the scanning signal for the shift register 11 and a transmitting means 3 which generates the enable signal EIi-1 for the block Bi-1 of the precedent stage from the selection control signal SELi of its block Bi and the enable signal EIi from the block Bi+1 of the following stage.
