PURPOSE: To provide ambience and width with enhanced acoustic image by eliminating a difference from acoustic image, depending on a position of a listener in the surround audio system. CONSTITUTION: A forward system and a rear system are made different in their types in the stereo enhancement system of the surround audio system. A 1st stereo emphasis system 10 to drive forward speakers 16, 22, 26 avoids a pumping action by increasing a threshold level, while increasing a speed of a directivity servo to suppress unwanted increase in a reverberation effect by breed. A 2nd stereo emphasis system 34 to drive rear speakers 40, 46, 50 increases a speed of the directivity servo and supplies a difference signal only to the left/right speakers 40, 46 and supplies a sum signal only to a woofer 50. |
