PURPOSE:To correct a loss with respect to an inserted cable required at the time of repair of a fault in the case of the submarine cable system or the like by varying the gain so as to reduce misalignment caused by a difference between a loss of a communication cable and the gain of the optical amplifier repeater thereby keeping the talking quality. CONSTITUTION:This repeater consists of an optical distributer 2, an optical switch (1)3, optical amplifiers (1)4,(2)10 whose gains differ from each other, optical isolators (1)5 and (2)11, an optical switch (2)6, an O/E converter 8 and a monitor control circuit 9. The gain is varied by selecting any of the optical amplifiers (1)4,(2)10 via a control circuit 9 with a control signal from a transmission line (1) 21. |
