The present invention relates to a cable for transporting medium- and high-voltage energy making it possible to detect that a temperature has been exceeded in a cabled connection. This cable includes at least one central conductor (10), at least one insulating layer (13) coaxial with this central conductor, at least one metal screen (31) coaxial with the insulating layer, an outer sheath (19) surrounding this metal screen and possibly a mechanical protection. The metal screen (31) is produced with bare copper wires (32) in the form of juxtaposed flats in order to constitute a continuous layer. An optical fibre with a temperature threshold (21) is embedded in this screen and placed between two round wires located on either side of this fibre. Pads (30, 34) ensure longitudinal impermeability and mechanical and thermal protection of this fibre (21). This cable makes it possible to prevent unexpected failures in cabled connections and to enhance safety in the use of electrical networks. <IMAGE>
