A capacitive sensor (11) is provided in a vertical line (10) to the test object (12) forming the measurement path. The sensor is partially exposed to hydraulic medium under pneumatic pressure higher than the hydraulic pressure of the medium from hydraulic (14) and pneumatic (19) sources. The hydraulic and pneumatic media come into contact in an equalisation chamber (17). A further line (22) connected to the chamber at the height of the capacitive sensor contains a valve (23). Blocking valves (15,16,21) are arranged in the hydraulic and pneumatic feed lines (13,18). USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple arrangement partic. suitable for use in mass production line for testing of valves.
