A photovoltaic cell has a glass cover as one of its surfaces, made from inorganic glass material with a transparent electrically conducting coating. There are conductors in contact with the coating, laid in grooves in the glass cover and with a size of at least 20 X 20 cm. The glass cover is preferably at least 25 X 25 cm in size and is intended as a window, wall or roof covering element. The conductors are sunk into the coating and are overlapped by it or may be sealed in with other material. This may be wedge-shaped to retain the conductors. The conductors are arranged in a mesh and solidly earthed. ADVANTAGE- Extends the scope of application for photovoltaic cells.
