The suspension system comprises top and bottom hinging links (4-7) at each side. One of them has a bell-crank lever (11) supported from the vehicle body by a transverse spring (13). The link bearings are in a sub-frame (2) coupled to the vehicle body, and the springs form damper units, supported on a central level-control unit (14). The latter can comprise an hydraulic ram with two chambers (23,24) which can be separately pressurised, and containing pistons (21,22), against which the damper units bear. The bottom links can have the bell-crank levers. USE/ADVANTAGE - Low-cost suspension level control even for lightweight vehicles.
