The method for reducing noise from air conditioner, offsets expected noise by using database previously memorizing periodically repeated noise component such as fan noise. The apparatus has a motor (8) and fan blade (9) for discharging air cooled by heat exchanger to fan duct (10) or exhaust duct (11); noise detecting section (25) for detecting and reducing vibration and noise of the duct (11); monitoring microphone for compensating the reduced noise. The apparatus comprises a controller for getting transmitting constant by regulating gain of noise spectrum, synthesizing parameter of indoor air vibration frequency detected from the section (25) with the constant and compensating reverse phase signal according to noise intensity detected from the microphone; noise generating means for offsetting original noise, for offering reverse phase signal generated from the controller to the original noise discharged from the exhaust duct (11).
