<p>Asphaltic concrete composition produced by hot mixing liquefied bituminous asphaltic binder with a gravel, said gravel comprising a mixture of a coarse aggregate such as crushed rock, a medium aggregate and a fine aggregate, in which the medium aggregate comprises used aluminum foundry sand or iron foundry sand, entering the composition of said gravel in a percentage between 14,1 % and 51,9 % by weight. Additionally said gravel may comprise naturally occurring sand, such as river sand, in a percentage between 0 and about 9 % by weight. Before mixing with the hot liquefied bituminous asphaltic binder the gravel components are heated to a temperature greater than about 160 degrees Centigrade. In a preferred embodiment, said temperature is greater than 250 degrees Centigrade.</p> |
