PURPOSE: To continuously detect chemical and/or biological fouling of industrial water by a method wherein an air and a nourishment are supplied and mixed in a slip stream, and measured by a dissolved oxygen probe. CONSTITUTION: A slip stream is fetched from a device into a fetch-in pipe 15, and a probe 10 is attached to one end of a T-shaped pipe 14 connecting with the pipe 15. An air is supplied from an air supply inlet 24 and a nourishment is supplied from a nourishment inlet 25 to the pipe 15 at a constant speed. In the case where an air is only supplied, when a dissolved oxygen level is reduced, fouling is detected. Further, in the case where the nourishment is supplied, when fouling slowly occurs by chemical activation, the dissolved oxygen level when the nourishment is supplied is not changed. However, if the dissolved oxygen level is reduced when the nourishment is supplied, it can be decided that the biological fouling existed in the device. |
