PURPOSE: To provide a sanitary tampon having a curved or acruate pledget. CONSTITUTION: A tampon is composed of compressed predget 12 having a first and a second curvature radius. Ranges having different densities are arranged adjacent to the first and second radius parts, extending over the overall length of the pledget 12. The predget 12 is absorptive fibers surrounded by a cover 28, and is connected thereto with a pulling string 36 which facilitates the pull-out of the tampon from the vagina. When an absoptive body is compressed, it is formed into an elongated substantially cylidrical predget 12 which is composed of a high density fiber area 20 and a low density fiber area 18. After the compression, the low densiry area expands so as to form a curved tampon.
