PRODUCTION OF MAGNESIUM FLUORIDE ORGANO SOL SOLUTION AND METHOD FOR FORMING FILM WITH THE SAME SOLUTION

PURPOSE:To obtain an MgF2 organosol solution capable of providing an MgF2 film having low reflection characteristics when applied onto glass and burning by mixing an organic solvent solution of a specific magnesium halide with a hydrogen fluoride-containing organic solvent solution. CONSTITUTION:A solution obtained by dissolving MgX2 (X:Cl, Br or I), e.g. MgCl2 in an organic solvent is mixed with a solution consisting of an organic solution containing hydrogen fluoride and the resultant gel is crushed. Thereby the objective MgF2 organosol solution can be prepared by means of simple operation. The organosol solution is applied to glass such as a show window or cathode-ray tube and burned. Thereby an MgF2 film having low reflection property is formed to provide a glass having low reflection to visible light.
