<p>Used automotive type oil filters (34) are provided in drums (32) to a tipper (30) which operates to deposit the filters (34) therefrom into a feed hopper (40). An input feed conveyor (50) receives the filters (34) from the hopper (40) and conveys the filters (34) to a coarse shredder (70). Shredded pieces are deposited from the coarse shredder (70) onto a conveyor (80) which deposits the pieces into a fine shredder (82) from which the shredded pieces exit onto either another conveyor (100) for transport to a hammer mill shredder (802) or to a washer input conveyor (120) for transport into a washing drum (102). A magnetic separator (300) may be disposed between the hammer mill shredder (802) and washing drum (102) to separate out ferrous materials for transport to the drum (330). Oil that drips and seeps from the shredders (70, 82, 802), hopper (40) and conveyors (50, 80, 100) is collected in wells (52, 86, 106) and conducted therefrom through filters (92) and under pump action (94) to a waste oil storage tank (64).</p> |
