The valve (2) is bolted (9) to the conveyor and consists of a main body (2) and a cover plate (3) which are bolted together (4). A check plate (15) is fixed horizontally to the side of the valve casing (2), and above this, between it and the conveyor tube (10) outlet (11), is a star shaped wheel with raised radial ribs (7). An electric motor (5) with vertical shaft (6) drives the star wheel which pushes the feed (12) off the check plate so that it falls over its edge (17) and down to its objectives. USE/ADVANTAGE - Controlled amounts of feed are distributed to individual animals or groups of animals.
