<p>A solution draw thin walled construction method is provided that is used to make a kink resistant tubing (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90) out of a solution of a solvent system. The thin walled tube construction method of the invention starts by creating a solution of a predetermined thin walled polymer out of the mixing of solids and a solvent. The resulting solution is then used in a vessel that contains a hole in it. A small layer of solution is then deposited a thin layer of encapsulating material (74) on a mandrel (72) creating a thin walled tube (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90) by solvent evaporation. A reinforcing coil (34, 54) is then wound around the thin walled tube (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90). A second layer of encapsulating material (12, 32) may then be deposited on the reinforcing coil using the solution draw process. The kink resistant tube (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90) is then removed from the mandrel (72) by first pulling on the ends of the mandrel (72) to shrink its diameter.</p> |
