PURPOSE:To markedly improve storage stability, especially, light fastness, in a thermal recording material having a thermal recording layer containing a basic dye forming a blue color and a developer, by providing a protective layer containing microcapsules containing an ultraviolet absorber and having no color forming capacity. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material wherein a thermal recording layer containing a basic dye forming a blue color and a developer is provided on a support, a protective layer containing microcapsules containing an ultraviolet absorber and substantially having no color forming capacity is provided on the recording layer. As the basic dye forming a blue color, 3,3-bis(p- dimethylaminophenyl)-6-dimethylaminophthalide or 3-(4-diethylamino-2- methylphenyl)-3-(4-diethylaminophenyl)-6-dimethylaminophthalide is used. The microcapsules have membranes of polyurethene/polyurea resin or aminoaldehyder resin and the average particle size thereof is 0.1-3mum. |
