PURPOSE: To provide a cathode-ray tube which prepares an evacuated envelope having a glass cervical region and a cone section, and an electron gun arranged in the above-mentioned cervical region, and makes the neighborhood of the electron gun not to be charged, or to be charged only on a low level, after switching on. CONSTITUTION: A glass enamel layer 31 which has a matter, e.g. Cr2 O3 particles, having the secondary electron emission coefficient less than 1 is provided at the cervical region 5 of a cathode-ray tube. The particles wt.% is over 30%, and surface resistivity lies between 10<10>Ω/square and 10<14>Ω/square. The operation at high-voltage of such layer is satisfactory. The concentrated drift is relatively small. And wt.% does not exceed 60%.
