An automatic sewing machine has a small-ware attachment to enable a label to be sewn into position. The appliance has a spring gripper on a baseplate, with a slot in the baseplate to allow the spring gripper to be lifted. The attachment is pref. driven from two pneumatic cylinders. The hinge bolt allows the cylinder to raise the appliance by the connector, so that an operator can put a label between the spring gripper and the baseplate. This is slotted to allow the spring to be lifted. The label is then placed on the flat, and at the correct angle, with the end of the spring pressing down. The second cylinder then extends the piston and the label to the sewing position. USE - To place labels on shirt fronts accurately, ready for the machine to stitch in position.
