A table tennis bat has a circular blade (2) which is fastened to the handle (3) by a pivoted joint formed by a pin (4). The blade can thus be rotated relative to the handle in either direction through angles (alpha) and (beta) which are equal to each other. The blade (2) has two notches (5) formed in its edge, there being one notch formed on each side of the handle. These notches enable the player to rotate the blade by using the forefinger when gripping the handle. A spring (10) attached to the blade and the handle tends to rotate the blade in the direction (r).
