The rollers of each section (16,17,18) of the transverse transport carriage (13) form the support plate and a stop (19,20,21) is associated with each section. The stacking device has at least two lift tables (23,24) which are positioned with their longitudinal sides adjoining one another and can be traversed by the fork or rake like bearing support (25). The individual sections of the carriage (13) and the lift table associated with the stacking device are preferably of different widths. The number of sections and number of lift tables are preferably the same. At the delivery side of the carriage there are pref at least two rolling tracks (22,37) whose end sides facing the delivery side of the carriage lie flush with each other whilst the stacking devices are provided at their longitudinal sides facing away from each other.
