Each cable is laid on the upper part of the drain and fixed to it so that the cable is first contacted by water when the drain is full to capacity and consequently min. dirt adheres to the cables. On the walls of the drains or manholes, transitions are provided between the parts of the network laid in the drainage channels and any part which must be buried for transmission of communications or power. Such transitions may also be provided on drain covers. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. in large cities, cables can be laid at favourable cost without disturbance of carriageways and pavements.
