PURPOSE:To easily produce a toothed belt which is high in elasticity and small in compression set, excellent in abrasion resistance and travel safety and has anisotropy for strength by exerting shearing force to rubber composition containing short fiber as a reinforcing agent in tone specified direction, thereafter vulcanizing and molding the same. CONSTITUTION:Short fiber V is blended with rubber composition constituted of rubber for base material, alpha, beta-unsaturated fatty acid, metallic oxide and organic peroxide as a reinforcing agent to impart high strength. In preparation of the rubber composition, an ordinary method is used as a kneading method. In this case, rubber is orientated in the specified direction by exerting shearing force in the specified direction and large strength is obtained for the direction. Furthermore high orientation properties are obtained in not only strength but also elongation. Rubber is not particularly elongated in the orientation direction similarly as the orientation properties of strength but is largely elongated in the other direction. Therefore in the case of vulcanization and molding, rubber is introduced into a mold so that the orientation is matched with the direction of rotation of a belt. Thereby the belt excellent in strength and stretching properties can be obtained. |
