PURPOSE:To improve the strength of a catalytic carrier for purifying exhaust gas so that slippage by the pressure of the exhaust gas passing through the carrier does not occur by forming a flat plate and a corrugated plate in a honeycomb-shaped carrier so that the flat plate and the corrugated plate and a rugged part formed with them are engaged with each other. CONSTITUTION:When the flat plate 1 and the corrugated plate 2 are welded to constitute an integrating plate 5, the rugged parts 9, 10 are formed on the surface of the flat plate and the integrated plate 5 is wound while engaging the rugged part of a succeeding winding layer with the rugged part in a preceding winding layer among both rugged parts 9, 10. Thus, the slippage of the flat plate to the corrugated plate by the high pressure of the exhaust gas flowing to the axial direction of the carrier is prevented, the separation, etc., of the catalyst attached to the carrier is prevented and high purifying function as the purifying device is maintained. Since the carrier is formed by roundly winding the integrated plate made by welding the flat plate with the corrugated plate, the carrier having the structure excellent in strength with the slippage preventing action between the roundly wound layers of the integrated plate by projecting and recessed engaging is obtained. |
