PURPOSE:To reduce the discharge amount of nitrogen oxide (NOx). CONSTITUTION:In a combustion method of natural gas containing 3 or more C hydrocarbon, fuel natural gas 5 is divided into at least two parts and a part of fuel is burnt in a combustion part 1 and the combustion gas is mixed with a part of said fuel to be guided to an NOx selective reducing catalyst 2 and NOx in the combustion gas is reduced and purified in the presence of oxygen by hydrocarbon in the fuel and the fuel is catalytically burnt by the oxidizing catalyst 3 arranged on the downstream side of the NOx selective reducing catalyst 2. Since NOx generated by the combustion of the fuel is reduced and purified by the selective reducing catalyst and the residual fuel is catalytically burnt, the discharge amount of NOx in the combustion of fuel can be reduced.
