TRANSMISSION SYSTEM FOR COLOR TELELVISION SIGNAL

PURPOSE:To attain the transmission of the color images of high picture quality with a smaller quantity of information by securing a high color information compression rate and the higher picture quality and at the same time to improve the picture quality of the images to be transmitted by allocating a larger quan tity of information to the luminance signals when the transmission capacity is fixed. CONSTITUTION:The color difference signal is directly coded by a color difference signal coding circuit 12 and at the same time the color difference signal is converted by a chroma signal generating circuit 16 into a chroma signal which is corresponding to the color chromaticity in 1:1. Meanwhile the chromaticity signal is coded by a chromaticity signal coding circuit 17. Then the information quantity of the signal outputted from the circuit 17 is compared with the information quantity of the signal outputted from the circuit 12 by a switch control circuit 18. Based on the result of this comparison, a signal of the smaller quantity of information is selected. Then a composite code signal is produced and transmitted.
