摘要 PURPOSE: To improve the accuracy of the measurement of the density of toner grains in a two-component developer. CONSTITUTION: A toner density sensor 100 is arranged to be adjacent to carrying augers 43 and 44 in a developer reservoir. The toner density sensor 100 is projected from the bottom wall of the developer reservoir to the carrying augers 43 and 44, up to such a degree that the sensor 100 is partially overlapped with the blades of the augers 43 and 44. Part of the auger blades are notched to prevent the contact of the auger blades with the toner density sensor 100. Since the sensor 100 is arranged like this, the density of toner can be accurately sensed on the basis of the active flow of a toner agent crossing the surface of the sensor 100.
