The light source (2) within the housing (1) is a semiconductor element and is provided with switch means (3,5) fed from the external electrical energy source, by means of which the light source (2) is fed with a predetermined nominal voltage or current. The switch means is formed by a constant voltage source for which a rectifier (5) is provided in the housing. The rectifier is of the bridge type and the light source is a light-emitting diode (2) or a laser diode. The housing interior is filled with a heat-conductive mould mass, partic. with highly viscous polyurethane, epoxide or silicon rubber. The housing base is a plug socket, a screw socket or a bayonet socket. USE/ADVANTAGE - A lighting device in which the light source works constantly under nominal voltage independently of the operating conditions of the external electrical energy source.
