PURPOSE:To obtain the subject new compound excellent in storage stability of colored image and resistance to plasticizer and useful as a recording material. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I [Y is formula II (R<2> is halogen, lower alkyl, aryl, etc.) or formula III; R<3> to R<6> are halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or lower alkenyl(oxy); R<7> and R<8> are H, lower alkyl, lower alkenyl or aralkyl; Z is bivalent lower alkyl, SO2, CO, S or O; ring A is benzene ring or naphthalene ring; n, m, p, q and r are 0-4], e.g. 1-phenoxy-3-(4-hydroxybenzopheno-4'- yloxy)-2-methyl-2-propanol. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting, e.g. a compound of formula IV with a compound of formula V (X is halogen) and reacting the product with a compound of formula VI. |
