PURPOSE: To provide a chemically inactive chime overlay closely bonded to both a lining and a bead and the related upper part of the chime including the outer wall part. CONSTITUTION: A plastic chime overlay 32 is closely engaged with a chime 18 of a drum and extends an annular groove 22 of the outer side beyond a bead 20 from the inner edge portion thermally bonded to the drum lining. The chime overlay 32 is fusion bonded to the chime 18 throughout the full extent of the surface-to-surface engagement between the chime overlay and the chime.
