PURPOSE:To provide a controller capable of controlling load even in a standby mode while a CPU is normal, and in addition, capable of preventing the exhausting of a battery at the time of the runaway of the CPU. CONSTITUTION:A watchdog timer 3 monitors the output state of a watching pulse CK2, and when the CPU 1 runs away because of a noise, etc., it detects this, and generates a reset pulse so as to reset the operation of the CPU 1 to an initial state. At the time of the standby mode, an AND gate 4 inhibits the CPU 1 from turning into a reset state by fixing the reset pulse from the watchdog timer 3 at a definite value. At the time of the runaway of the CPU 1, an FET 16 turns off power supply from the battery at timing, for instance, to turn off an ignition switch on the basis of a fail safe signal FS. |
