PURPOSE: To inform a user of the rounding direction of a display value by providing a state indicator which indicates the relation between an actual calcu lation value and the display value with respect to display of a fractional or decimal number. CONSTITUTION: A precision display device or indicator is incorporated in a display device 24 and indicates the direction of inaccuracy of a decimal part at the time of comparison with a 12-digit decimal number. The precision of the displayed decimal part is indicated on the top part of the display by a triangle (Δ) 82 or an inverted triangle 80. Lighting of the triangle 82 means that the decimal part of the actual 12-digit value is slightly larger than the displayed value, namely, the value of the fractional part or the rounded decimal. That is, when a user wants fractional parts all of which have 5 as a denominator, 2/3 is displayed as '(Δ) 0 3/5' because the accurate decimal part is about (3.3333)/5 and is slightly larger than 3/5. |
