<p>PURPOSE:To detect the travel position and direction of a vehicle by the vehicle position detection system even when the direction of the vehicle to a travel path surface is inverted. CONSTITUTION:Plural symmetrical positions centering on the travel track (guide cable) 2 of the vehicle (traveling vehicle) 1 are regarded as magnet embedding positions, and whether or not a magnet is embedded at each embedding position is combined to represent a position code; and pairs of the symmetrical embedding positions are used for the direction identification of the position code and the magnet is embedded only one side. Further, plural magnetic sensors S1 and S2, and D1-D8 are installed on the side of the vehicle 1 corresponding to the magnet embedding positions on the travel path surface and the array direction of the position code detected by the magnetic sensors D1-D8 is discriminated by using the detection signals of the couple of left and right magnetic sensors S1 and S2 corresponding to the embedding position of the magnet for direction discrimination. Further, the travel direction of the vehicle on the travel path surface is discriminated by using the forward or backward travel direction signal of the vehicle and the detection signals of the magnetic sensors S1 and S2.</p> |
