<p>PURPOSE:To extend the life of a thermal head by controlling the supply of a current so as not to increase the use frequency only of a specific heating element. CONSTITUTION:A mode changeover means 4 selecting a usual printing mode or an unusual printing mode using heating elements less than those of the usual printing mode, a current supply memory circuit 5 counting and storing the total number of current supply pulses at every heating element and a current supply control circuit 6 applying a current supply pulse to the heating elements selected according to printing data when the usual printing mode is selected and bringing the specific heating element among the heating elements selected according to the printing data on the basis of the data from the current supply memory circuit to a discontinuity state for a definite time when the unusual printing mode is selected and applying a current supply pulse to the remaining heating elements to contract the difference between the total numbers of current supply pulses at every heating elements are provided.</p> |
