<p>PURPOSE:To provide a new method for producing 1,6-hexanediol, the method being suitable for the industrial production of the 1,6-hexanediol. CONSTITUTION:1-Propen-3-al is dimerized in the presence of a dimerization catalyst comprising an organic VIII group metal compound to produce 2- hexene-1,6-dial, which is hydrogenated in the presence of a reduction catalyst into 1,6-hexanediol. The method passing through the 2-hexene-1,6-dial obtained by dimerizing the easily available 1-propen-3-al permits the profitable production of the 1,6-hexanediol.</p> |
