PURPOSE:To improve magnesia-carbon bricks made from electro-fused magnesia- clinker of high-purity to provide burned or unburned basic bricks which are stable to the slug attack even at elevated temperature in an oxidative atmosphere and show excellent corrosion resistance to the slug of high T.Fe content. CONSTITUTION:The refractory bricks comprises more than 10wt.% of electrofused magnesia clinker containing 98.0 to 99.8wt.% of MgO, less than 0.02wt.% of SiO2 and 0.2 to 2.0wt.% of CaO and, since the ratio of CaO/SiO2 in the grain boundary area is high, the reaction of the components with the slug penetrating into the grain boundary areas occurs to increase the viscosity of the slug whereby more impregnation of the slug can be inhibited. |
